
Julie Hoeflinger is an emerging writer from Toledo, Ohio. With a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience and a master’s degree in science journalism, her work is as gripping as it is academically informed.
Julie’s writing explores grief, identity, mental health, healing, and connection. Her work has been published in IAMB Literary Magazine and Round Lemon, and her poem “Black and White” was a finalist for the 2025 Rhonda Gail Williford Award for Poetry. Her journalism predominantly covers the environment, neuroscience, and social justice and been featured in QS Insights Magazine, New Scientist, ZME Science, Action for Conservation, I,Science Magazine, and Imperial College Radio.
Julie has also combined her passions into a number of creative projects in varying mediums, including her science arts magazine, MIMIC, and an upcoming blog and video series called Corn to Concrete, which will capture her experiences living on the road.
